Event Description

The 6th Annual Center For Humane Living 5K Walk/Run For Peace takes place on the multi-purpose Mule Deer Trail (paved) through the beautiful, scenic desert within the McDowell Mountain Ranch Community, located in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, AZ. The 5K Walk/Run starts at the The McDowell Center at 16116 N. McDowell Mountain Ranch Rd, on the Mule Deer Trail, goes through the tunnel underneath McDowell Mountain Ranch Road, wraps around and goes underneath the tunnel below 105th Street, then around the back of the commercial business center, then along Desert Canyon Elementary/Middle School, and finally back towards the McDowell Mountain Ranch Community Center at 10607 E. Paradise Lane, via the Mule Deer Trail through various residential communities.  It is a moderately challenging course with hills throughout.

The event coincides with the MMR Community's annual "Octoberfest", a community building event, and post-race participants are welcome to stick around and enjoy the food and fun, complete with live music and a pumpkin-carving contest. All proceeds from the 5K Walk/Run will go towards CHL's (a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization) education programs committeed to producing solutions to societal breakdowns such as out-of-control violence and bullying.  Join us by wearing your Purple event T-shirt to commemorate October being Domestic Violence Awareness month.
