Event Description

Fundraiser for SRLA and Deo's 500th Marathon!
Come help us raise funds for Students Run LA and celebrate Deo's 50th birthday (again...for the 6th time...) with a beautiful run/walk in Griffith Park. Deo has been a coach for SRLA for over 20 years and this year's Run Deo Run marks his 500th marathon! There's a distance for everyone: 5K, 10K, half or full marathon! Limited to 150 runners total across all distances. Registration includes shirt and finisher's medal: $40 for the 5K/10K, $60 for the half/full. Los Angeles Frontrunners are the coordinators.

Start Time/Location: Pecan Grove Picnic Area
The start time for 5K, 10K & Half Marathon is 8:00 AM. The full marathon starts earlier - PLEASE see full marathon details below. We will stage all races from the PECAN GROVE PICNIC AREA. This is the same race location as 2018/19. Please click the link below to see a map of the park. Pecan Grove is just a bit northwest of the Zoo & Autry.  Click HERE for map of start area.

Course Info
All courses will be run on the main trail and are packed dirt and mostly flat. The 5K and 10K are out and back. The half is also out and back and you do the circuit twice. The full does the same circuit four times.

Parking and Bib Pick-Up
Bib pick-up for the 5K, 10K & Half is race morning starting at 7:00 AM. There are 30 parking spots at Pecan Grove so if you are early enough, you'll be able to park there. This is a small race so your chances are good to grab a spot right at the start. If all the spots are gone, park at the Zoo lot, at the edge closest to Pecan Grove, it's a short walk. Click HERE for map of start area.

FULL MARATHON: Start Time and Instructions
The full marathon will start at 6:00 AM. Our race namesake, Deo, will be running the full marathon and will have the bibs for all the marathon runners. There will not be aid stations for the first two hours of the full marathon so you must carry your own water/snacks.

About Students Run LA
Students Run LA is perhaps the most perfect 501c3 charitable organization to support as a runner in Los Angeles. Since 1993, SRLA has successfully carried out the same teacher-led training program, to challenge at-risk secondary students to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health by providing them with a truly life-changing experience: the training for and completion of the Los Angeles Marathon. What started with one teacher and his handful of students has grown to more than 500 leaders and 3,200 students from 175 schools and community programs throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Registration
Online registration will close Thursday, January 23, at 11:59 PM. There will be NO raceday registration!

Donation
If you do not plan to run, but would like to make a donation, please click the link below. 100% of your donation will be included in the total donation LA Frontrunners will make to Students Run LA after the race and is tax deductible. Click HERE to donate.

Water/Aids Stations
Water/Aid stations: there will be a water/aid station at the start/finish and two stations on the course. Because it is an out & back course, you will pass water/aid stations several times, depending on which distance you are running.

About LA Frontrunners
Los Angeles Frontrunners, also a 501c3, is the LA chapter of International Frontrunners, the LGBT running club organization. In addition to running, running, more running (and lots of eating), LAFR raises funds and collects good to donate to local charities. In the last year, those charities include; SRLA, PAWS/LA, Angel City Pit Bulls, Kitten Rescue, Life Worth Saving, P.S. Arts, Friends of Project 10, the Senior Services Center at the LA LGBT Center, The Breakfast Club at St. Thomas the Apostle, and the Don Thompson Scholarship at the USC Film School.
