Event Description
The LET'S GET MOO'VIN Half-Marathon, 5k & Walk is a trail race that will go along the Roanoke Canal trail passing by the Roanoke Rapids Dam, Canal Museum, West Rock, I-95 and the Aqueduct which was built in 1823. This event is put on by the Roanoke Rapids High School Student Council and Chick-fil-A of Roanoke Rapids. Profits raised will go to the Roanoke Rapids High School Student Council Organization for school and community outreach and future events.
**Race day registration and Packet Pickup will begin at 6 a.m. at 100 Oakwood Avenue**
Registration Fees/Dates/Categories:
Registration for the Half-Marathon is $50 until 8/2; increases to $60 on 8/2 until race day; $65 on race day.
Registration for the 5k starts at $30 and increases to $40 on race day.

Awards/Categories:
Awards will be presented for Top Overall M/F, as well as M/F in the following categories: Youth (17 and under), 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+
Medals will be provided to all Half Marathon Finishers.
The Award Ceremony & Other Events will take place around 11am, once all runners have finished.
Course:
The Half Marathon, 5k & (5k) Walk will take place on the Roanoke Canal Trail. Half-Marathon runners will make it on the canal trail past the Aqueduct, and 5k Runners & Walkers will run to the Canal Museum. The natural surface trail is generally flat with a few hills. As runners travel back in time along the historic trail, they will pass over several culverts that were installed during construction of the canal in the 1820's. Runners in both races will also pass by the large bulkhead that diverted water into the canal during the years it was used to generate electricity for the local mills. Those who choose to run the half marathon will actually run through the old aqueduct, which is widely regarded as an engineering feat well before its time. The coarse will take you through Roanoke Rapids and into Weldon. Throughout the race, water stations will be setup and student council members and the Chick-fil-A cow will be cheering you on!
