Santa Paws 5K is a dog-loving fun run/walk benefitting the Guide Dogs of the Desert. The 2020 event Saturday, December 19th 8am start Each
participant receives a 5-piece Santa suit (This includes a jacket, pants, belt, hat and beard) that can be worn during the event and is then yours for keeps!
G.P.S. Lions Club is, once again, the Title Sponsor of the SANTA PAWS 5K benefiting Guide Dogs of the Desert. We thank them for their continued support!
All participants run, walk or stroll the 5K (3.1mile) route. Strollers and doggies are welcome! There will also be a 200 meter Elf Dash for children 10 and under. Entry for the kids' event is $10 and includes an elf hat, event button and Ben and Jerry's ice cream certificate for all participants.
In order to insure the safety of all of our participants, we have been consulting with representatives from both the special events department of the City of Palm Springs and the coordinator of our timing company. We will include the following provisions to insure your safety:
Race Day Registration begins at 6:30 A.M.
Plenty of free parking is available!
-Trophies award to top 3 male and female finishers overall, challenged athletes, strollers, teams and dogs.
-Santa Suit, tech t-shirt, goodie bag, souvenir finish line photo download, posed Santa download and milk and cookies presented to all registered participants!
Event details and schedule
Late registration (if available) and race day packet pick-up begin at 6:30AM. Plenty of free parking is available within walking distance of event site. Wear your Santa Suit and get into the Christmas spirit. Dress up your dog as a reindeer and bring along all the little elves, too. Those who are racing competitively may wish to wear shorts in leiu of the suit pants.
Race (run/walk) begins at 8AM and WILL BE RUN IN WAVES. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BIB FOR YOUR WAVE NUMBER AND START TIME. Come join Emcee Jeff Stahl from KESQ NEW CHANNEL 3 who will be calling the race. Elf Dash to follow awards ceremony at approximately 10:00. We will make plenty of announcements so the little ones won't miss out.
-Finisher medals presented to all registered participants at finish line.
-Division Medals presented to first 3 men and women in each age division in 5 year increments through 90+.
-Trophies award to top 3 male and female finishers overall, Top 10 Finishers, Challenged Athletes, Teams and Dogs.
AGE GROUP MEDALS AND TROPHIES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20TH, DUE TO COVID-19 REGULATIONS.

The Palm Springs American Legion will be on hand with their ham radio so that kids can actually talk to Santa Claus! Stop by and say "Hi" to the big guy in red that we all know and love!
