Challenge yourself like never before in the Mark Green Sports Center’s 2nd TRYathlon. As the name suggests, this event will highlight “effort” over competition and will be a great experience for the new or beginner triathlete. This event will be comprised of a 15 minute swim, 15 minute spin bike ride, and a 15 minute run. Scores will be calculated based on the distance covered in each leg of the event and posted within a week after the event to view. Athletes of all fitness levels are welcomed to enter this event. Event details and schedule
At your designated start time, you will begin a 15 minute swim in our outdoor heated pool located at the Dan Oden Swim Complex. The next leg of the event will be spent on the spin bikes which will be set up on the side of the swimming pool. Lastly, you finish the race with a 15 minute run around the swim complex.
Transitions: You will be allowed 15 minutes to transition from the swim event to the spin bikes and another 5 minutes to change from spin bikes to the run.
Scoring: While this race is more about putting forth your best effort than actually competing. We do know that some like to see how they compared to others in the event, so for those interested, we will be using a point system to score each leg of the event. Scores from all three legs will be aggregated and posted up for people to see the following day on the Sports Center Facebook and Instagram pages with bib numbers in place of names.
Pre-requisite: Participants must be comfortable in the water, be able to swim at least 8 feet, and youth athletes at least 4’11” (4 feet, 11 inches) tall for spin bike use.
*Note that participants will be divided into different waves/groups of 10-12 people. Those who register with a group or larger party may be placed in different waves depending on time of registration and availability.
Check in: 8am-9am
Parking is available in the James Logan High School parking lot, which is where the Dan Oden Swim Complex is located in. Upon arrival please check in with event staff with a valid photo ID.
Race Start: 9am
Wave A begins at 9am, and following waves begin every 20 minutes. Every Race will begin with the Swimming leg, followed by the Spin Bike leg, then the Running leg. All legs of the event will take place in the Dan Oden Swim Complex area. You have a 15 minute transition period to change (if necessary) and go to the spin bikes, and 5 minutes to transition from the bikes to the track. Follow staff directions on where to go after each leg.
What to bring/wear:
Please bring swiming trunks or swim suit to swim for the swimming leg, a towel, as well as comfortable running clohtes and shoes.
