Event Description
Join us for the FIRST EVER Griffin's Gift Virtual Road Race happening between July 2 - July 5. This will mark the celebration of the late Griffin Lamar's, 6th Birthday. Charities like Griffin's Gift need us now more then ever to keep their organization up & running so we hope you decide to participate!
We'll certainly miss seeing all your faces at our annual event at Danvers High School in Danvers, MA and seeing all the kids living their best life at Griffin's post race birthday festival. Hopefully we'll be back to our traditional festivities come 2021.
In the interest of the charity, and so many deserving families that Griffin's Gift assists, we have created a way for you to participate virtually!!! The charity receives applicants from all over the country looking for help to ease the financial burden of their adoption process, so going virtual will allow us to ultimately attract more participants.
Details: You’ll register just the same as you would any other event! You can register individually, create a team, make a donation, and submit your results. Going virtual, allows a lot more flexibility! You can complete your race anytime and anywhere between Thursday July 2nd and Sunday July 5th!
If you are local to Danvers and wish to actually participate on the official "RACE COURSE" we encourage you to do so, as there are some additional perks, you can read more about below.
Categories: Racing options will include the following distances: 3.55 miles, 10K, 1 mile or Griffin's TriFecta!!! Complete which ever distance you want, whenver you want & however you want! Maybe you run, walk, scooter, bike, it’s up to you 🙂 (Only running times can be submitted for scoring)
Fees & Donations: It’s FREE to register! Any and all donations you would like to make will be allocated to Griffins Gift. Donate what you can 🙂 (If you don’t wish to make an additional donation, just simply leave $0.00 in the widget and click continue.
Race Course: This is your race! Pick your favorite loop, out and back, lollipop, point to point, trail or even a treadmill to complete your selected distance. If you choose to race on the "Official Race Course" you'll have the opportunity to take part in a feature called Race Joy. RaceJoy is an enhancement offering a real-time, innovative race day experience with live tracking, progress updates and cheer sending.
Griffin's TriFecta, is exactly as it sounds, complete all three distances.
Swag: This year we are giving people the option to choose whether they’d like to receive a race shirt! We will coordinate pickup, drop off, and or shipping for those a far. If you want to wear your shirt on race day you must pre-order by June 15th!! Shirts ordered after June 15th will be delivered to you post event.
Awards:
Top 3 Overall M/F finishers in the 3.55 miler & 10K & 1 Mile
Griffin's TriFecta - Top 3 fastest (An average time will be calculated based on all three events)
Fastest Team – Cumulative time for the top 2 finishers *Team gender is irrelevant (We’ll coordinate shipping awards to the team captain)
Largest Team – Round up your friends!
If you are running the 3.55M please be sure to hit at least 3.55 miles, no more then 3.65 for scoring.
If you are running the 10K please be sure to hit at least 6.2 miles, no more then 6.4 for scoring.
This data can be tracked with your phone or other GPS data capturing system and must be submitted by 11:59PM on June 21, 2020 to be included in race results.
Race Results: You must submit your results by 11:59PM on July 5th! If you are participating in the TriFecta, you will submit your results for each distance separately.
More about Griffin's Gift: Griffin’s Gift is a recognized 501c3 charity that aims to alleviate this financial burden by granting non interest loans to a families chosen through an application process. As the loan is paid back, another family will be chosen to receive the life changing gift of adoption – a continuous cycle of blessings and joy. Adoption is an incredible journey that results in instant love. We believe any family who is committed to adopting a child should be able to make it a reality.
