Event Description

This annual holiday run, organized by TEMPLE BETH EL of Bakersfield, California, is going virtual – and solo – this year!  The event will be held from Thursday, December 10 through Friday, December 18.  ALL participants will receive a custom bib, finisher medal, Hanukkah swag and a raffle entry.  PLUS those who register by December 10 will be guaranteed an event T-shirt!  There will be a costume contest this year too!

Participants will be able to complete a virtual 8K or 2K run OR a solo 8K or 2K run anytime during the eight days of Hanukkah.  The virtual runs can be completed anywhere and the solo runs will take place on courses set up at the PANORAMA VISTA PRESERVE, a scenic 938-acre natural habitat preserve situated along the Kern River in northeast Bakersfield.  Both solo runs will involve the use of RaceJoy, a mobile app that will display the course map on a Smartphone, provide audio cues along the route, and allow participants to post their finish time.  Awards will be given to top finishers of the 8K solo run!

A portion of each participant’s registration fee will be donated to the KERN RIVER PARKWAY FOUNDATION, a local non-profit foundation that works to protect, preserve and restore the natural riparian and wildlife habitat of the Kern River.
