Event Description
5k or 1 mile with a twist! At about halfway plan your own shot stop. Either 1 shot of fireball (or similarly awesome liquor) OR a shot of milk & cookie. Groups should be small this year but still so very merry. Gather your family, your closest running buddy or go solo! Share pictures with your GFAC friends on Facebook or by uploading to the RunSignUp event page. If you'd like to be considered for the fastest GFAC Festivus 5k-er make sure you submit your results here no later than Christmas Eve. Festivus 5k must be completed on 12/23.
In addition to a fun 5k, a GFAC Festivus Celebration also includes all of the traditions of Festivus:
- Festivus Dinner (spaghetti)
- Festivus Pole (aluminum, very high strength to weight ratio)
- Airing of the Grievances (I've got a lot of problems with you people, and now you are going to hear about it! This is your opportunity to share with everyone how they've wronged you over the past year.)
- Feats of Strength (Head of household challenges someone to a wrestling match - Festivus is not over, until they are pinned)
- Festivus Miracles (ordinary occurrence...must be a Festivus Miracle!)
If the holiday made famous by the syndicated comedy Seinfeld is new for you, I recommend watching "The Strike" in preparation. Season 9, Episode 10. Available on many streaming platforms such as Hulu or on Amazon Prime or YouTube for $1.99.
